Your North High School Alumni Association was back in action in 2010. We are pleased to brag that we were able to present six $750 scholarships this year, up a little from past years. In the six years that we have been in existence, we have been able to give almost $20,000 in scholarships and more monies in grants to the various groups at school. Again this year, the scholarships went to a varied group of students. These were possible because of folks like you that have supported our fundraisers and it was gratifying to watch the faces of these young people as they received their scholarships.

In keeping with our efforts of the past, we have come up with a couple of venues in 2010 for raising new monies for scholarships and teacher grants. The first event was familar to most and we thank you for your participation. We held a golf tournament on June 4th at Leicester Hill Country Club. It was a beautiful day for golf, the dinner was outstanding and we had many raffle prizes that were awarded. We will be hosting another in 2011, so if you missed out on this years or would like to put in a foursome, stayed tuned for further information.

The second fundraiser is the second annual Alumni raffle. The prize? Two Patriot tickets for eight (8) home games, free parking, dinner & open bar before the game and dinner after the game and you can watch the game from the warmth of the WEEI Celebrity tent or you can go into the stadium. The cost was $100.00 per ticket with tickets limited to 250 in number so it will be great odds for all. The drawing will again be held in August at the new North High construction site. This was a successful raffle last year raising over $14,000 for scholarships and programs.

Remember, a strong alumni can only help our kids not only in the form of scholarships, but also in the form of networking benefits for those students who may reach out for guidance and advancement. A strong alumni also benefits those who represent our high school (administration, teachers, PTA) in times when support is needed to help garner programs or funding for major causes that effect all of North High School.

If you know of any alumni who have not particpated in any of our fundraisers and would like to be informed, or participate in the planning as a member of the organizing committee, please have them register online or call Bob Rano, Fran Garofoli, Beth Sannella, Pat Barrie or Steve Manna and let us know who they are.

Our website contains a contact form, phone numbers and information that can help in registering you or your fellow alumni. This information is NOT shared with anyone except the committee and gets sent directly to one of us.

50th REUNION

The Class of 1960 is holding their 50th reunion on October 16, 2010 at Wachusett Country Club. Don’t miss out on a lot of laughs and after all these years, rekindling and making new friends as this writer can apply attest to. Hey, a tour of the new North High could be a possibility.

40th REUNION

The Class of 1970 is having their 40th Class reunion Saturday, October 30th, from 6:00 - 11:00 PM at the Manor Restaurant, 39 Franklin St., West Boylston. Please help get the word out and send all classmate information to Mike Pavone to be added to the monthly announcement update. Thanks Mike0202@aol.com. This is a good event to see old friends and share in the good times as you look back at these 40 years.

The New North High

Have you driven up Hamilton Street or across Harrington Way and seen the structure going up that used to be purple in color and now is taking on a blueish hue? Well that’s our new North High. The construction is coming right along and on schedule.

Now more than ever you can imagine the Alumni Association’s desire to sell more bricks for our “Alumni Courtyard”. You can do your part by signing up for one so that we can pave “our” courtyard with all the alumni names. Please see the page on the Brick Drive and participate. It’s a great way to have your name or that of your class or even a deceased classmate on a brick as a permanent remembrance. We know that one class even honored one of the assistant principals. Don’t you have someone?
